Hello, my name is Laura and I decided to create this blog to track my progress with the Insanity workout by Beachbody. When I was researching information about the Insanity workout, I couldn't really find many reviews, especially for women, so I decided to write about my thoughts and progress on this "insane" workout.

Day 1: The Fit Test
I am a fairly active person, I try to workout about 5 to 6 days per week, and I thought the Insanity Fit Test wouldn't be as hard as I had heard from some friends, but I was wrong!

The actual test is only about 20 minutes long with a 5-minute warm up. When I began the warm up, it was actually really fast-paced, and I was already sweating 5 minutes into the DVD. I tried my best on all the moves and here are the results for my first fit test.

1. Switch Kicks: 55
2. Power Jacks: 50
3. Power Knees: 71
4. Power Jumps: 34
5. Globe Jumps: 8
6. Suicide Jumps: 12
7. Push up Jacks: 20
8. Low Plank Oblique: 50

I guess my goal with the Insanity workout is to get really fit, to lose all my belly fat and have really nice abs. I don't really want to lose weight, so I guess I have to actually eat more than what I am used to. My husband said he doesn't want me to be super skinny bone-like, but to look toned, so he's watching over my diet and making me eat more!

I'm going to try to follow the diet, but counting calories seems kind of hard, I'm gonna eat healthy and eat 5 times per day. With this fit test I realized that I am going to need enough energy to be able to finish all the workouts.

Well, those are my thoughts for today, oh and one last thing, you know how the insanity infomercial says you will sweat like never before...well it's actually true! By the end of the fit test my whole shirt was wet!!!

Hi there! Laura here again...

Today is my second day of the Insanity workout, and it was awesome! I did the Plyometric Cardio Circuit and the entire workout went by super fast. It is about 40 minutes long, but since you are always moving and trying new moves, it really goes by fast.

The whole DVD is really "insane", starting from the warm up. I was sweating like crazy during the warm up, which tells you a lot. I don't think I had ever sweat so much during a warm up prior to the actual exercise. After the warm up, Shaun T leads you through a thorough stretch, which is like a yoga stretch. It felt really good, and after that I was ready for the circuit.

The exercises were actually fun, you are always moving and sweating! At one point I had sweat in my eyes and they were burning. But it was ok, because I knew that I was really burning many many calories.

I am hoping to lose some inches off my waist, and I think it's going to happen because the moves are core intensive. (My current waist is 30.5 inches, I weigh 117 pounds, and am 5,3" tall).

Right now there are muscles in my body that I didn't know existed that are sore because of the exercise, which is really good because it means I am working those muscles out!

Well, that is it for today. I'm gonna grab a snack because the workout does make you hungry!

P.S. If you are thinking of starting the Insanity workout, I really encourage you to do it, it is actually really fun, and I know it's gonna work because of all that sweat!

Hi there! Laura here...

Today in my Insanity workout I did the Cardio Power and Resistance workout. I did the Insanity workout around 6pm after taking a little nap and an hour after eating a whole wheat bread with peanut butter to fuel my body. I really like peanut butter, and it actually gives me lots of energy to give it my best during the workout.

This morning when I woke up, my upper and lower back were sore, and I thought I wasn't going to be able to perform as well today, but when I put the DVD in, the warm up began and I was pumped up!

Like yesterday, the warm up was intense, I guess that's how all the Insanity warm ups are. I really like the warm up because it does get your heart rate going, and your muscles get warm really fast so you can be ready for all the high impact and squats and jumps and all that!

The workout today was fun, the only moves I dreaded were the push ups. At one point you're running and jumping and then all of the sudden you have to go down and do push ups. And not just regular push ups, but some weird hard push ups. I guess when we were doing the tricep moves, I wanted the workout to finish, but then we started doing more cardio like running, jumping, power jumps, etc. I really enjoy those.

So far, I have liked the workouts I have done from the Insanity program. Like I mentioned in another post, I am an active person, so I am actually able to finish the workouts. I can't go as fast as the people from the Insanity DVD's, but I'll get there in the next few weeks!

I also forgot to mention that my husband is doing the Insanity program with me. I didn't mention that before because I thought he was just gonna try it and get bored, but he is actually liking it a lot.

He has done all the workouts with me so far. Here are his results from the Insanity Fit Test we did on Monday.

His main goal is to actually lose weight. He doesn't like to diet at all, but I'm making him eat veggies, and he is actually liking them. I will keep you posted on his results from the Insanity workout everyday as well.

Well, we are getting ready to go out - it is movie night tonight. I think we're gonna see the Zookeeper.

Hello there... Laura here,

I'm going to start this post by letting you know that we went to see Zookeeper last night. It was ok. I thought it was going to be funnier, but it had some really funny scenes though. I guess I would recommend you watch it when it comes out on DVD.

Ok, so back to Insanity. I did the Cardio Recovery workout today. It was only about 30 minutes long. Because the name of the workout has cardio in it, I thought it was going to be cardio-based, but it turns out it is more like a yoga-resistance-stretch workout. I actually enjoyed the workout even though some moves and positions were a bit hard because I am not that flexible. Hopefully, by the end of the 60 days I'll be super flexible!

My husband thought the workout was super easy. I guess if you compare it to other Insanity workouts, you could say it is. Shaun T makes you do a lot of slow squats and he says you always have to tighten your core. I tried my best to follow his advice. I'll see if tomorrow I wake up sore from my abs. The squats made my legs burn a lot, and I had to go up many times. For a recovery workout, it is pretty intense but easier than all the other Insanity workouts.

I am anxious to see how to Pure Cardio workout goes tomorrow. I hear from a friend that it is the hardest workout from the program because Shaun T doesn't give you any breaks.

Hi there, Laura here,

Today is my fifth day doing the Insanity workout. I was actually a little nervous about today's workout because it's the Pure Cardio workout. I have a friend who is doing Insanity, he is actually almost done with it (I'll see if I can borrow his pics to post them here so you can see some Insanity results), and he told my husband and me that the Pure Cardio was exactly what the name says it is - PURE CARDIO NON STOP!

The workout begins just like any Insanity workout - with the really fast paced warm up that makes you sweat like crazy before the actual workout even begins. One thing that caught my attention and increased my level of anxiety before starting the actual workout was that Shaun T said he was nervous himself. If Shaun T was nervous, then of course I was super nervous!

After the stretch, it was pure cardio without stopping. Of course if you need to take breaks, you should. I obviously did take a lot of breaks because I felt I couldn't go on any longer. But I would rest a little bit and then I would keep pushing. I was able to finish the workout and am now here writing about it!

Ok, so far for this week I have completed 5 days. I just have one workout left, which is the Plyometric Circuit again. I should be able to finish the workout. Tomorrow I will have completed week 1 of Insanity... WOOHOOO!

Hi There, Laura here...

Today was my last Insanity workout of the week. I thought it was gonna be easy because it was the same workout from Tuesday, but it was actually the hardest workout of this entire week. I guess it's because it's been 6 days of non stop exercise. I am so looking forward to my day off tomorrow. My body needs rest so I can keep digging deeper like Shaun T says.

The first part of the workout wasn't that bad, I actually finished the first circuits completely. What killed me was the drills! I hate those because Shaun T makes you do a lot of push ups, and then some ab exercises in that plank position. I was super tired. I stopped so many times, but I guess it was normal because my husband was feeling really tired too. He took many breaks as well.

Although I am tired and sleepy right now, I am so happy because I am seeing some incredible results already. Like I mentioned before, my goal is not to lose weight, I weigh 116 and I just want to tone up, and lose fat from my waist. Today I weighed myself and I am at 116 still, so that is good. Then, I measured my waist, and I have already lost 1/2 an inch!! I was super happy!!

I have actually been eating more than normal, so I was thinking on cutting back on my food, but because I see that eating more has not affected my results, I am not changing anything for now. I guess eating more has actually helped me push myself more during the Insanity workouts because I seem to have more energy!

Ok, so I'm gonna enjoy my Saturday now, and rest until Monday!
